  7. ISIcon and ISIcon/SI are professional versions of the string-oriented Icon
  8. Programming Language for UNIX systems. ISIcon extensions to version 8 include
  9. module level scoping, built-in function tracing, enhanced warning messages, and
  10. several new built-in functions. The ISIcon/SI Screen Interface add-on provides
  11. a very high-level programming interface to the curses(3x) based Extended
  12. Terminal Interface (ETI) library. SI can be used to provide professional,
  13. full-screen character user interfaces at a fraction of the cost of using
  14. curses/C. Character menu, form and text-based windows are dynamically created,
  15. and automatically sized, positioned, given an attractive border, and otherwise
  16. managed. All memory management is automatic, as are type conversions. ISIcon
  17. has over 80 built-in functions, and a wide assortment of data types, language
  18. operators, and keywords. The language features the unique ``generator'' and the
  19. resultant goal-directed evaluation. Translation is fast, and can be
  20. modularized. There are no runtime royalties.
